The New communities first guidance is out on child poverty http://wales.gov.uk/docs/dsjlg/publications/091009childpovertyguiden.pdf , I've given it a read I think its ok but WAG need to directive in their guidance to mainstream services.
I am the CF coordinator for Ebbw Vale N&S in Blaenau Gwent, myself and my partnership board Chair have just returned from the Child Poverty awareness training facilitated by Mike Durke at the Phoenix Centre in Townhill, Swansea. The training was first class and delivered with such energy and passion by Mike. As a partnership we support a number of projects aimed at reducing CP such as working closely with the local Credit Union and supporting the delivery of community based learning (within our Action Plan for 2009-2012). As a result of the training, a number of CF stafff based in Blaenau Gwent from other partnership board areas have begun discussing staging a multi agency child poverty conference to which senior decision makers and CF partnership board representatives can discuss how to strategically address the child poverty agenda within Blaeanu Gwent although this idea is in its infancy as we only begun discussing it at the training in Swansea. Communities First partnerships are central to delivering local projects that address the complex issue of Child Poverty.
